PERMIT TO WORK
DEFINITION.
- A permit to work system is designed to ensure
- that all necessary actions are taken before, during and after particularly hazardous operations. These operations are mostly related to maintenance work which ca only be carried out if normal safeguards are dropped, but also include certain routine work which can only which demands that special precautions be taken.

- It should be designed by the company issuing the permit.
- Separate permits form may be required for different tasks.
- Permit should be sign by the issuer, must given to the person in charge of work who signs for it.
- Copies of permit must also be given to any plant or site management and supervisory staff.
Before works starts.
Before work
commenced, the following general safety precautions should be observed, where
they apply:
1.Electrical or
mechanical isolation of plant.
2.Isolation of the
machine and equipment.
3.Locking or blanking
off of water, steam,acid, solvent, and compressed air supply.
4.Erection of
scaffolding.
5.Provision of
temporary guards to make the safe job.
